Have you ever considered volunteering for a charity or community organisation?

We’re here to help you take the next step.

CIRCA provides advice, guidance and introductions to help people find volunteering opportunities that suit their interests, availability and skills. Whether you’re looking to give back, build confidence or try something new, we’re here to support you along the way.

What is Voluntering?

Volunteering is the giving of time, enthusiasm and energy for the benefit of others and the wider community.

It doesn’t have to be a large commitment. Some opportunities may involve just a few hours a week, while others may be monthly or occasional.

Volunteering is open to anyone with time to give who wants to make a positive difference. Choosing an organisation, you feel passionate about can help you explore your interests, build confidence and discover new opportunities.

Benefits of Volunteering

Volunteering can be extremely rewarding and can give a strong sense of purpose. It can be particularly valuable during times of change, such as retirement, unemployment, or following illness or loss.

Volunteering can also support your mental and physical wellbeing, reduce stress and help build confidence. It offers opportunities to:

  • Meet new people and make meaningful connections
  • Give back to your community
  • Build confidence and a sense of purpose
  • Learn new skills or explore different interests
  • Try out a new role or career path without long-term commitment
  • Have fun and feel part of something positive

Ultimately, volunteering offers the satisfaction of knowing you’ve made a real difference.

How CIRCA can help

CIRCA acts as a central point for volunteering on the Isle of Man, supporting people who are interested in getting involved with local charities and community organisations.

You can make an appointment to have an informal discussion with a member of our team about the type of volunteering you’re interested in. If you’re not sure where to start, we can talk through different options and help you explore opportunities that may suit your interests, availability and experience.

If you choose to proceed, we can help by introducing you to suitable organisations. There is no obligation to continue - the decision to volunteer is always yours.

All prospective volunteers are asked to complete a Volunteer Registration Form, which helps us understand your preferences and availability. Any information you share is treated confidentially and is only passed on to organisations with your consent.

Some charities may require references, and roles involving children, older people or vulnerable adults may require a DBS check. The final decision about accepting a volunteer always rests with the charity or organisation involved.

Working with Local Charities

CIRCA works closely with a wide range of charities and community organisations across the Isle of Man to support volunteering opportunities.

Rather than directing people to a list of roles, we focus on understanding an individual’s interests, skills and availability, and helping to identify volunteering opportunities that are a good fit for both the volunteer and the organisation. This approach helps create more positive and sustainable volunteering experiences for everyone involved.

You can also check our Facebook page for details of charities currently seeking volunteers and opportunities to get involved.
